Monument Alessandro Manzoni

The statue, located in the square, is the Manzoni sitting in a meditative act. It is 2.80 m high. and it rests on a massive red granite plinth of Baveno high 4.50 m.
It 'a work of the sculptor Francesco Confalonieri, which are also the three high bronze reliefs depicting three steps of the novel.

The monument was inaugurated on October 11, 1891 in the presence of Carducci, which on this occasion delivered the -discorso of Lecco-which served to dispel the rumor of the poet's aversion to the great novelist.
